“We don’t want to do it without you”: The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Wants Hollywood Return after Suspension from Talk Show, Requests Harry Potter Star Maggie Smith To Return for ‘Sister Act 3’

Whoopi Goldberg is all set to reprise her role in Sister Act 3. She discussed a bit about the new sequel back in October 2022 with Sister Act co-star Kathy Najimy. Both of them seemed more than ready to reprise their roles in the third installment of the 90’s comedy film. And recently Goldberg once again brought out the topic of Sister Act 3 while appearing on the British talk show Loose Women. She made a plea before the British audience requesting her co-star and British actor Maggie Smith to reprise her role as Mother Superior. Goldberg also emphasized that the movie was not going to go ahead without the British actress in her role. Besides that The View host has also mentioned other new faces that she wants to include in the movie. The list includes celebrities like Keke Palmer, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, etc.

Whoopi Goldberg’s Public Plea to Maggie Smith

While appearing in the British Talk show Loose Women recently, Whoopi Goldberg took the opportunity to make a public plea. She requested Maggie Smith to reprise her role as Mother Superior in the upcoming Sister Act 3. The third installment of the 90’s comedy film was confirmed for Disney+ back in 2020. It was also confirmed that Goldberg was going to star in and produce the movie along with co-producer Tyler Perry. She wants all the original cast member to reprise their roles.

Furthermore, the Ghost actor emphasized that without her co-star Smith the movie was not going to go ahead. While talking before the British audience Goldberg said looking directly at the camera,

“I want to let Maggie Smith know that I’m holding the part of Mother Superior for you because I just can’t do it with anybody but you”

Then she went on to add that the production team was going to do anything for the Harry Potter actor to reprise her role. Goldberg emphasized Smith’s importance saying,  “we will do whatever you want us to do”. And further, she added, “But we don’t want to do it without you, Maggie.”  The View host even said that if Smith wanted it, the shooting could even take place in Britain itself.

Sister Act 3 is going to be the sequel to the 1993 musical comedy Sister Act 2: Back in Habit. It was announced back in 2020 that Whoopi Goldberg was going to reprise her role and also produce the third installment of the movie. Also in October 2022, she thanked her co-star Kathy Dajimy when they reunited in The View. According to Goldberg the idea to bring back Sister Act came up the after the success of Hocus Pocus 2. Daily stars in the movie appeared on the talk show for promoting the movie. She responded by saying, “I think it’d be a blast of fun”.

The Ghost actor has also mentioned new faces that she wants to include in the film. Her wishlist ensemble consists of Keke Palmer, Nicki Minaj, and Lizzo.
