Celebrity court cases are all the rage in a post-Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial world. Gwyneth Paltrow is therefore here to help quench the thirst with yet another trail people can rage about. The Iron Man actor has been making headlines recently for her involvement in a rather comical legal battle. An optometrist Terry Sanderson accused Gwyneth Paltrow of injuries inflicted upon him during a ski accident after Paltrow collided with him at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah nearly seven years ago. The trial was a sight to behold.

Adding on to that, the actress countersued $1 against the optometrist who was seeking $300,000 in damages. To make things even worse, the jury found the retired Sanderson at fault, and therefore consequently Gwyneth Paltrow was awarded her $1.

Gwyneth Paltrow won $1 in her legal battle

The trial which began on March 21, will go down in history as one of the weirdest cases to be ever fought. The silliness of the claims and conditions made during the trial is what brought attention to the case even more, besides Gwyneth Paltrow‘s involvement. The riveting case brought up by Dr. Terry Sanderson claimed the ill-fated day seven years ago did enough damage to his brain to reduce his life expectancy drastically. All this happened after the Oscar-winning actress and business mogul collided with him while skiing in 2016. Without any second thought, the actress countersued.

But the jury after an intense two-hour session of deliberation unanimously concluded that the Emma actress is not at fault. The opposition party quite obviously does not agree with the final verdict and plans to take the case to an appeals court. Robert Sykes, the man representing the retired optometrist said,

“We sincerely disagree with the outcome and will consider all options moving forward … including a motion to the court for a new trial or a possible appeal. All of those things are on the table,”

The court also dismissed Dr. Sanderson’s initial ask for $3.1 million in damages and was asked to settle for $300,000. On the other hand, Paltrow only asked $1 plus legal fees as compensation, which she ended up receiving. She also explained further in a statement revealed on her Instagram. She stated,

“I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity.”

All though everything is done and dusted, for the time being, there are very high chances of this infamous trial getting renewed for a second season.

The absurdity of the case that had the internet ROFL

The fans might just receive what they are craving the most right now, a second season of the Paltrow-ski trail. The following was the opening line of the now-infamous trial by Dr. Sanderson’s lawyer

“Before this crash, Terry was a charming, outgoing, gregarious person,–After the crash, he’s no longer charming.”

But the outcome of the case did not interest the internet as much as watching Gwyneth Paltrow on trial did. The time of cross-examinations gave the internet so of its favorite moments. From discussing if she’s Taylor Swift’s best friend or not to Dr. Sanderson’s ever-shrinking height to not being able to recollect a not-so-significant event that took place nearly seven years ago made this legal battle iconic in its own way.

The absurd sequence of the questions along with the Iron Man star’s stone-cold frank answers made it even better. This furthermore made so many people realize how out of touch she is with the general public, although it did not come as a shock as the actress is also the CEO of Goop. Therefore, the 2.0 version of the case would not be something people detest, and would love to have them back on the contrary.
