In a recent interview, it was mentioned by Phoenix that he was least intending to please the fandom.

Here is what Phoenix told in an interview with the Indiewire when he was asked about the pressure he feels to conform to fans the expectations considering The Joker.

“I could care less. I don’t really think that much about what people think. Who cares, who cares? My approach to every movie is the same. What I’m interested in is the filmmaker and the idea of the character,”

He said.

Phoenix could easily be defined as an “actor’s actor,” before being called “a star” or “a celebrity.” Known for being a deep method actor, Phoenix has been seen acting in films like Walk the line, an Oscar-nominated film.

After several centuries of Health Ledger’s popular method performance as The Joker, a large number of DC Comic Fans still believe in the superstition that to play The Joker with such deep amount of commitment is to invite insanity into an actor’s mind. It has already been talked over regarding how method Phoenix shall go for the role.

Assuming form Phoenix’s statement, it quite sounds like he is pretty focused on the director Todd Phillip’s vision and in bringing the character to life.

In no time, Joker has taken up a blend of acclaimed veteran actors, namely Francis Conroy and Robert Be Niro and some of the best comedians like Zazie Beetz and Marc Maron. The plot details are still a secret but the fact that Phoenix will play Arthur Fleck is not hidden.

While a large number of DC fans may be suspicious about this assignment, there is a great challenge in the fact that Phoenix will be able to provide something extremely special and eccentric that Jared Leto’s “Mr, J” in the movie Suicide Squad could not. Joker is yet to arrive in the theatres on Oct. 4, 2019.
