Sony and Disney had a brief break up over the summer. The rift among the top two companies had created an uncertain environment for future Spider-Man franchise releases. On Friday, the two companies announced that they had negotiated a deal to keep Spider-Man in the MCU for one more movie in the successful Spider-Man franchise. Even when Spider-Man was out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland (the actor who played Peter Parker aka Spider-Man) announced that he would continue to play a lead role in the future.

Spider-Man will not be swinging away anytime soon as Marvel Studios has decided to make one more movie with its lead character. Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marissa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, and Jon Favreau are all scheduled to appear in conclusion to the current trilogy. Peter Parker might even make his cameo in Venom 2 due to some reported details in this new agreement.

Tom Holland Celebrates MCU Return

Tom Holland seems happy about this development. Holland happened to post a snippet from Wolf of Wall Street after the announcement was made. He posted on Instagram Leonardo DiCaprio‘s signature over-the-top moments from Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street. It’s the moment when Jordan Belfort was under pressure to step down from his company but changes his mind as he announces to the crowd of loyal employees that, “I’m not leaving.” “I’m not leaving. The show goes on.” This calls for a celebration for all the Spider-Man fans.

The Final Showdown

This development strengthens both the MCU and Sony’s growing Spider-Man universe. The Producers for the Spider-Man franchise Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige are excited to be reunited with director Jon Watts as the team readies for the finale. Feige announced earlier this week that he was thrilled that Spider-Man’s journey in the MCU will continue and that everyone at Marvel Studios are very keen to work on it.

Feige also told the Entertainment Weekly that, “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse, you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
