It seems like we just got our first official look at the cast of Wonder Woman 1984. In what Screen Rant states as a now-deleted post from Pedro Rascal’s Instagram account, we can spot the cast of Wonder Woman 1984 and Director Patty Jenkins, posed in plain clothes along with Gal Gadot, wearing a Wonder Woman tiara on her head.

However, this picture was spotted by a DC fan who wasted no time in pointing out the picture’s clever reference to John Hughes’ “Brat Pack” coming of age film, The Breakfast Club. You can see the entire cast of Wonder Woman posing the same way as the cast of Breakfast Club.

This reference isn’t just for fun: it has a meaning behind it. The film was shot in the year 1984, the same year in which the sequel to Wonder Woman is set. It’s a funny reference and connection that Jenkins can make with their film by drawing parallels to the current day and the state of women’s rights.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently in production in Europe and the story will be a continuation of the first film in terms of narrative, rather than a larger DCEU connection in it. “It’s not a sequel, it’s its own story,” Gadot teased during the Comic-Con panel at SDCC 2018. “Its own chapter, a whole new movie. The bar is very high, but our aspirations are even higher. so we just give it everything that we have and hoping what we bring you guys will love.”

The film will also introduce Kristen Wiig who will play the film’s villain, Barbara Minerva, an archeologist who turns into a villain named Cheetah. Rumours even reveal Chris Pine returning as Steve Trevor but for now, we will have to wait to know how he will be brought back, given his death in the first film.

Wonder Woman 1984 releases on November 1, 2019.
