Obi-Wan Kenobi has been a fan favorite among Star Wars fans, leading to the character getting his own spinoff Disney+ series, which is expected to premiere somewhere in 2022, with prequel actor Ewan McGregor reprising the role.

Kenobi’s life hasn’t always been full of happy endings and nice sentiments. In fact, the Jedi Master has witnessed more than his fair share of horrible events in his life. Nonetheless, it is his unwavering optimism and refusal to succumb to his worst feelings that have made him a fan favorite.

Obi-Wan During the first Star Wars film, Kenobi faced out against his former protégé and buddy Anakin Skywalker, now in the guise of the Sith Lord Darth Vader, on the first Death Star. The two clashed, with Vader murdering his former master while Luke looked on from distance.

Obi-Wan’s death is made all the more heartbreaking by the fact that the breadth of his bond with Anakin is revealed later in the prequel trilogy and the Clone Wars series. Knowing how close Anakin and Obi-Wan illustrated how difficult it must have been for Obi-Wan to let the man he once considered a brother end his life.

Kenobi Lost the Order

Obi-Wan’s family, like those of most Jedi Knights, was the Order. Obi-Wan was abducted from his home planet of Stewjon at a young age and nurtured by the Jedi’s elders, growing up in a galaxy kept tranquil by their heroic efforts, which he would enthusiastically participate in as an adult.

Obi-Wan, on the other hand, lost the closest thing he had ever had to a family when the Jedi were methodically slaughtered as a result of Chancellor Palpatine’s Order 66. Not only that but everything he had battled for as a Jedi was also destroyed, negating all of his courageous efforts throughout the Clone Wars.

The Mandalorian trilogy is largely regarded as one of the finest Star Wars: The Clone Wars narrative arcs. The arc featured the Mandalorian Duchess Satine Kryze, the one woman Obi-Wan ever let himself, love. While the two never actively pursued their romance, it was evident that their love for one other remained. Unfortunately, Darth Maul murdered Satine in order to ruin Obi-life. Wan’s

At the time, this was without a doubt Obi-saddest Wan’s moment, as he held someone he actually loved—someone he had admitted to leaving the Jedi for—in his arms, while they breathed their last. Unlike his pupil Anakin, however, Obi-Wan conquered the evil inside him as a consequence of this loss, instead of using the sadness to make him an even greater bastion of light than he had been before.

Anakin’s Disloyalty

Anakin’s betrayal of the Jedi Order and conversion to the Dark Side marks the end of the prequel period and the beginning of the Empire’s classic era. Anakin’s turn sent even those closest to him, who had blindly trusted him.

Obi-Wan was among those who suffered the most as a result of Anakin’s treachery. He had not only trained him, but he was the closest thing he had ever had to a brother. Anakin’s unexpected treachery is a story element whose consequences will be seen in the next Kenobi series.

Anakin’s treachery and subsequent conversion to the Dark Side led in an emotional confrontation between the fallen Jedi and his former teacher on the lava planet of Mustafar, where the former was left grievously damaged and aflame on a scorching coastline. Obi-Wan was unable to complete the task of murdering Anakin, instead of leaving him to burn on the fiery hills.

Obi-Wan, in tears, expresses his tremendous sadness in Anakin, whom he refers to as his brother, for succumbing to the Dark Side and losing his destiny as the Chosen One. Leaving his best friend to die was the hardest thing Kenobi had to do, and it was undoubtedly a decision that tormented him for the rest of his life.
