Elon Musk is not a fan favorite at the moment, and there is no one to blame except himself. His reception had always been ambiguous at best. But ever since he bought Twitter for $44 billion and created virtual and literal havoc both on the microblogging site, and its offices, his popularity has taken a deep dive. The Tesla owner laid off a large number of Twitter employees who now have his name as a primary nemesis, and then his new community guidelines for the social media site are not being universally lauded either, but the 51-year-old never seemed to care. Until he was onstage before a crowd, being booed by thousands of people, at Dave Chappelle’s show.

Elon Musk gets brutally booed at Dave Chappelle’s San Francisco show

Sunday Night at Chase Center, San Francisco saw a crowd boo Elon Musk to their heart’s content. There were no phones allowed at the show but a brave soul managed to capture most of the chaos on their phone and share it with the world.

As Dave Chappelle was about to conclude his set for the day, he decided to call the celebrity CEO onstage,

“Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world.”

There was some booing in the crowd but some cheering too, and within seconds the former reigned supreme. Musk got naturally flustered by the crowd’s reaction and the boos kept getting louder than ever. He kept walking back and forth on the stage with a mic in one hand and waving the other one, like a nervous kid who doesn’t belong there. Chappelle tried breaking the ice by saying, “Cheers and boos, I see. Elon…” The business magnate just replied, “Hey Dave,” and in came more boos.

Chappelle then tried to salvage the situation by cracking a joke.
