It is Oscars season once again and everyone including the nominees are gearing up for it. The host for the ceremony has already been announced. This time Jimmy Kimmel is returning for his third time as the Oscar host. Undoubtedly, hosting such a big event requires a lot of preparation and personal effort to keep everyone engaged in the awards ceremony. But unfortunately, hosting does not guarantee big pay, even for big events such as the Academy Awards and Superbowl.

The MCs get way less than is expected, no matter who the person is. In comparison to that, the performing artists are the ones that bag millions with only a brief performance. Talking about this recently, Kimmel opened up about what goes on behind the scenes of being a host, including his pay.

There is no doubt that hosting a show is a difficult job. Although it requires the host to mostly talk and announce throughout the show, it still requires one to have the skill to engage the audience. But it turns out that the pay they receive is way less than what would be expected. Recently, Jimmy Kimmel who will be hosting the 95th Oscars this year for the third time revealed the underwhelming payment.

While talking alongside Wand Sykes (last year’s host) with the Rolling Stones, Kimmel shared a good amount of information. While discussing the payment, Sykes opened up that she received a payment of only 15k dollars. To this Kimmel suggested that it was way less and that she was being underpaid considering Sykes net worth. The talk show host said,

“You’re getting robbed. You know what? Hold out right now because they need hosts, you know?”

Furthermore, he also added that the management team had already discussed the things that could go wrong during the ceremony. Considering last year’s Oscar slap gate incident, this time the team will be hyper-alert to prevent any such incident from taking place. Talking about this, the talk show host shared he was worried too as a host about any possibly bad incident. After last year’s drama, Sykes even shared that she would not be hosting the show ever again.

Most of the time the big award shows go all well in sync with the preparations. However, there are no guarantees as to what blunder might take place. And last year’s academy awards witnessed one such blunder. Chris Rock getting slapped while being on stage shows how unexpectedly the host could be humiliated in front of hundreds of people. Following that, Wanda Sykes, who was one do the hosts last year said,

and I don’t know if I would want to do it again.”

It seems the slap gate incident shook her and made her question any future participation.
